Not alot of early morning breakfast places around us... mainly brunch places. We stumbled upon Rendezvous bakery and were not disappointed. I had the the pancakes on my first visit, which came with 1 blueberry and 1 chocolate chip and a cup of fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) and your choice of maple syrup or Nutella. My boyfriend has tried the Breakfast Campagnard which came with scrambled eggs, choice of bacon or sausage patties, a potato hash and a croissant. On our second visit together, we both decided to try the quiches. I had the Quiche Au Poulet Puffed pastry shell filled w/ egg batter, chicken, tomatoes & herbs with a side salad. I was a little disappointed with it, was hoping for bolder flavors. It was a little runny and wasnt flavorful. Kind of wish they had a different cheese or something to have made the flavors pop more. Even the side salad was pretty basic. I think making it a nice arugula salad instead of a spring mix salad would have changed the dish. My boyfriend had the Quiche Lorraine-Puffed pastry shell filled w/ egg batter, bacon, ham & swiss cheese. Same thing here. We felt the quiches were lacking flavor. And most likely will not be ordering them again. The service has been pretty great and the food reasonably priced. We're happy to find another breakfast place close by.

This place is amazing. I used to drive by this place and be like what the heck is up with that ghetto bakery in the middle of nowhere? This place is what people meant when they said appearances are deceiving or don't' judge a book by its cover. Seriously one of the best French restaurants around in the area and reasonably priced. A very good traditional French Onion Soup. A an excellent French Dip. And even their salmon which I find almost every restaurant has trouble with was stellar. Coffee is perfect of course cause they are French and French Fries terrific as well. Great Bread and I love the turkey sandwich. I haven't tried the pastries yet but they look delicious and duh, French basis and of course.

This place is a hidden TREASURE!! Their quiches and French-inspired dishes are phenomenal! We had the onion jam quiche, and the Forestiere Eggs with baguette, and we died and went to heaven! We were so happy and we will definitely be back! Let's be honest, we'll definitely become regulars! Service was wonderful, food was exceptional, and we are in love!!! YUM!!!

Have visited Rendez-Vous on 4 occasions over the last 3 years- it has remained consistent in service, atmosphere, and quality. A jewel in the heart of dusty downtown Ft. Lauderdale, Rendez-Vous remains a favorite, and I look forward to their service again.

This is a must when you're in the Ft Lauderdale area. We have always had exceptional food and service here. Their breakfast is my favorite, but lunch and dinner do. It disappoint. I promise one stop and you'll be a lifer!!! Keep up the great food and service Rendez-Vous!!!

Love their breakfast menu. Service is slow, but after recalibrating my expectations, it has become one of our favorite breakfast haunts. Must arrive early on weekends to avoid a wait (especially in season).

We have passed this place many times and have thought about trying it, and today we finally did. And boy am I glad we did. From the moment we entered the doors, we were greeted by warm and friendly servers. We were seated promptly and served just as promptly. The food was divine. The portion sizes were a little overwhelming, but who doesn't like a doggy-bag? We had the escargot to start, which was mouth watering. Then we moved on to the portobello chicken crepe and the roasted turkey sandwich both of which were delicious. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed!

Food are amazing and the service is even better I really don't know why it's just has 3.5 star on yelp , I drove 20 min away and I am happy that did it

Great place for a flavorfull and fresh breakfast. Coffee and orange juice are also delicious. We had the scrambled eggs with croissant (delicious), sausage and home fries. Server was a very pleasant french lady, always attentive to coffee refills and our satisfaction with the food. Great place!

If you've ever been to Texas or the southeast, you may be familiar with a chain of restaurants called 'La Madeline French Bakery and Cafe'. This was a chain started by founder Patrick Esquerre. The first time I walked in here years ago, I saw the striking coincidence of certain menu items that reminded me of La Madeline. The owner said that it is more than a coincidence, he was a manager of a La Madeline during Patrick Esquerre's ownership. La Madeline was since sold to corporate interests and has since gone downhill, but Rendez-Vous has kept the superior quality of the original La Madeline under Esquerre's ownership. The onion soup and tomato basil soup is excellent and so is the Beef Bourginione. Everything I've had there is excellent and the staff provides exceptional service. This place is a must visit if you're in town from the South and Southeast where La Madeline was once excellent.

I stopped in here and ordered a few desserts to go. Chocolate mousse, chocolate croissants and a slice of Napoleon cake. The gentlemen behind the bakery counter was nice, helpful and attentive. My favorite dessert out of the 3 was the chocolate mousse. Wow! What a surprise! Soooo good. I'll have to go back and get that again!

I love this Place. No matter what you order, there is something special in every dish, and someone really love to cook in this kitchen, and that's what is all about.

I've been hearing about this place from my boyfriend for over a year, but we live on the west coast... I finally got to taste the Eggs Forrester he always raves about, and it definitely did not disappoint! Very flavorful food, excellent coffee, and great service! :)

Went here on a recommendation which my wife got today. The reason of the 3 star rating I gave this place rather than a 5 is for the following reason. Once we got there we sat at a booth and ordered the soup of the day which was tomato basil, it was a good soup. We also ordered a plain croissant and an almond croissant, they were both delicious. My wife had the tuna sandwich which was really good and I had the smoked turkey sandwich which I really was hoping for a nice piece of turkey in it not sliced deli turkey. The sandwich had stacked turkey slices but would of been better with a real piece of turkey. Now the bread was delicious. Overall the experience was so so...about the service, after the soup and croissants our food took forever at least 15- 20 mins to get our sandwiches, I mean really dam then our waitress came over after 10 min to tell us the machine went down and she had to restart it all over, now what does that have to do with 2 sandwiches for two customers sitting and waiting then finally we got em they good as I already mentioned but we finish and our waitress is no where to be found, oh she was found she was sitting at a table doing I have no idea what, we had to flag the other server down and she gave us more water which we had been wanting and asked for already, at that point she brought us the bill and placed it on the table when we didn't even ask for it. Plus we wanted coffee. Finally we got it, drank it and left. Will I come back? Not sure to be honest. with service like that it doesn't matter how good the food is I won't return. Gotta think about maybe one day in the way future distance.

Ate here for lunch. Location was perfect; short walk from work. Sat outside to enjoy the warm sunny weather. Ordered a ceasar salad with grilled tilapia. The ceasar salad was crisp and tasted fresh. The tilapia was extra $8 but well worth it. It was served on a separate plate. Had a nice char to it and it was very moist. Service was good. The server checked in every so often. I'd go back to try more stuff.

Amazing! Popped in for lunch on a whim at the recommendation of a gentleman who was helping us at the lanscape company just up the street. The service was attentive, conversational & polite and the food was everything I would expect from a French cafe, fresh, rich and creamy with lots of flavor... and the deserts... petite and decadent. Our experience was fantastic from start to finish. I can't wait to come back to try other items on the menu.

We didn't get the chance to eat breakfast here, but we did get the chance to order some of the pastries! Definitely recommend the almond croissant, the fruit tart, and I think it's the lemon raspberry dessert. Everything was just right, not too sweet and not touch filling. I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the desserts. Service wise, one of the waitress or owner seemed overly frazzled for some reason, and it wasn't even a full house!! She made it seem like she wanted to just get our desserts and have us leave like we were an inconvenience.

This is my third time trying this place.and every time I've been there the service has been horrible. This time I sat outside with my dog and had a breakfast crapes sausage patties coffee and water. A lady with dark hair help me on the patio and got the server for me. I ordered my coffee and water and then ordered my breakfast the whole time I was ordering there was two guys working on a truck just on the other side of the gate very tacky. When my food came out the The French crapes were burnt. I've had better French crapes at IHOP and this was supposed to be a French restaurant. And don't tell me that's how the French do them because I have travel all over France. As I sat there trying to eat the two guys that were working on truck came inside. I think they were owners or managers and they lit up cigarettes and smoked. I know I was sitting outside and if it was customers it would be one thing, but the owners should've asked if it was okay to smoke while I was eating. I need more syrup for my crapes and I sat there for about 15 minutes waiting for some more coffee and water. I saw a lady with the black hair again and asked her to get me a server to give me some more water and coffee. When the waitress came back to give me coffee I asked her to bring me the check. The check came out and I waited another 10 minutes waiting for her to come collect the credit card. I ended up having to get up and walk into the restaurant to get the server to take payment. For the money I spent $10 on crapes I'll go to IHOP next time and get better service and better French crapes.

another rainy sunday brunch with the Bestie-- we were greeted promptly and sat down right away...it was around noon again... was torn b/t lunch or bfast but opted for the EGGS FORESTIÈRE -$ 9 2 poached eggs dipped in wild mushroom sauce with fresh baked baguette.... super rich and creamy sauce but man did it taste delicious. girlfriend got the SPINACH POCHETTE $8 Puff pastry pocket filled with spinach, garlic and onions. Served with mushroom sauce... she also really liked hers. we split an almond chocolate croissant and were set for the day of shopping. the place is very cute and homey inside and i found the server nice and friendly. would come back here for lunch/dinner another time. que cute!

This is a special place, usually full of very nice people, being served by a friendly staff - serving up delicious food (breakfast when I go). Saturday or Sunday here will make your weekend feel special. Great coffee, fresh juice, delicious pastry and quiche and chocolate croissants. Go, relax, enjoy. Everyone in the community loves this place. Now shhh. Best $10 breakfast you will find in South Florida. Shhh.

I used to really like this place, maybe it was just because of the people I went with... So, now that the service and product seem to have gone downhill a bit I notice other things I never noticed before... like if I want my eggs scrambled instead of fried or poached its $2.00 more? Really? Also, why do the eggs come out in a circle? are they microwaved in a bowl and then dumped on the plate? Also they have a side of Bacon on the menu and also a side of sausage... yet I can order bacon in an omelet but not sausage? how does that make any sense... As for the bacon, when you offer a "side of bacon" it should be a plate-able serving.. not something that resembles pre-cooked that was than burnt on a flat top, served in a dish that it doesn't fit in so half the piece is sticking up in the air, with broken pieces and small pieces all just dumped in... This isn't fast food, I don't expect to pay fast food priced and I don't tip like I would for fast food... so yes, I expect the bacon on a plate it fits on, whole pieces and not stuck together. Also $2.50 for coffee seems a little high... especially when they're slow to refill...

Was there with a large party for dinner. All I can say was Omg! Highly recommend! From service, to portions, to individual plate! Will definitely be back. Try escargot, salads, I don't think you can go wrong with this menu. Duck was great! Seafood crapes. Very, very good!

Never a bad meal! Pastries are always fresh, food is on point, and service is great. The mussels are awesome, and I'm not that big on them usually. If they have the curry mussel special I highly recommend. They also have wine specials if you want to wine &dine into delicious oblivion.

I really used to like Rendez Vous. There were several things on the menu that I could order over and over and be happy. With my most recent visit, I must say that my loyalty has been shattered. The following items occurred over a period of time: 1. Lost their desserts. 2. Servers became more arrogant and unhelpful. 3. Seating many parties before me when I had waited and the other parties had just walked in. 4. Served me fouled meat Yes, you read that last one correctly. I ordered steak and eggs for brunch and was served bad meat. The smell was enough to tell me it was bad, but I never thought they would actually serve me bad meat and so I tried it. It was bad steak. This was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. Businesses are a lot like roses. A bush grows a bud. The bud begins to blossom. The blossom remains open for a while, and then the blossom dies. It seems as though this rose has gone through the full cycle. At least I was given the great opportunity to pay for my last meal here.

It is with heavy heart that I have to revise this review from 5 stars to 1 star. The service has really gone down the crapper lately. This place has amazing food, but our waiter tonight really ruined our time. The place was not busy at all. We waited for about 5 minutes to get seated (nobody in front of us). Once seated, it took about 10 more minutes for the server to ask for our drink order. Simple enough, I wanted a beer and water. The person I was with also wanted a water. They didn't have the beer I wanted (server had to check first), so I went with another beer. No biggie. That beer came right out, though the server didn't pour it for me. Still no water....25 minutes later and after asking twice, still no water. My beer is great, but I'm the only one with a drink. After 30 minutes, we gave up, got up and walked the hell out of there. My companion goes up to the server, who has the gall to ask where we are going. He tells the server we've waited 30 minutes for a glass of water and we've watched the server just farting around (even shaking the tip jar behind the register a few times). Still no water on the table, so we are taking our business elsewhere. The other blonde server (I'm guessing the one in charge) noticed the conversation and had no interest in what was going on, turned the other way. I've never received such poor service at a restaurant in my entire life. This is such a shame, because the food here is really top quality. This just goes to show how important the wait staff is to the success of your business. I hope the owner is aware of what shitty service this waiter is providing and that he is chasing off good, loyal clientele. I know I've probably been here at least 10 times in the last year. Needless to say, I won't be going back for a VERY long time. What a jackass. I see the unemployment line in his near future. It's also unfortunate that I couldn't review this evening's meal, but instead I'm left to talk about not being served a glass of water at a restaurant.

We had a fine meal on Friday night. The servers were attentive perhaps there has been a change of wait staff since the poor reviews were written. We had eaten at Sage the night before. The meal at Rendezvous was just as delicious at two thirds the price. The potatoes gratin were the best ever. I asked if they would substitute them for the rice that came with my chicken dish. No problem. This is the best French restaurant in Fort Lauderdale for my money.

  • Jim J.

We tried out the night-time menu here last evening and the quality and presentation were both excellent. The French Onion soup was full of caramelized onions and had just the right saltiness. The cheese tasted like Gruyere, not a Muenster slice or other substitute. We had the Assiette Campagnard - a French version of the anti-pasto salad - and the Trout Amondine - an open almond-crusted trout laying over a pastry filled with julienne squash and a vegetable souffle. At $13 and $19, both were excellent values. Our waiter was super attentive and very knowledgeable; even knew how the souffle was made. Rendez Vous is one of those local favorite restaurants that never disappoints.

With great regret, I have to change my rating from 4 to 2 stars. While the food is wonderful, the service is really suffering lately. Last night, we waited over an hour after being seated for our dinners without so much as a bread roll, watched other tables that came in after us be served and finish their meals in that time, and had to practically tackle our frenzied and moderately surly waiter just to get some water. We were offered no apology or acknowledgement that anything was wrong, other than an 'oh my, everyone came in at the same time' from the hostess (which really didn't seem to be the case). We will definitely be exploring other locales before we think of returning.

It looks like Rendez Vous has gotten its act together, again. Their French Dip sandwich is flawless (they serve you gravy as opposed to the typical jus); so are their crepes and bread/pastries. I'm not saying the place is perfect; but they have a few offerings that I think are phenomenal. Enough to get me there at least once a month for lunch. It's a lot busier now that the snow birds are here, so avoid peak hours.

Not a fan of french food but this place is great, ok service, no frills or attitude, great food. Everything i have had has been great: onion soup, quiche, crepes, roast beef baguette and fries. Portions are ok. The fries are to die for, i repeat, to die for....

I just moved to the neighborhood and decided to give Rendez Vous a try at breakfast time. I loved it so much that I've been back several times. Their french toast is out of this world and I order a side of seasoned potatoes. I've eaten here for dinner only once, but was impressed with the quality and quantity. I ordered the seafood pasta and it was great. They don't skimp on the seafood at all. The help, for the most part, is very friendly and helpful. I have a friend in Delray Beach who tried the french toast breakfast with the seasoned potatoes on the side and she's hooked on the place also. She doesn't mind driving 40 minutes for their great food.

  • Deven B.

Ugh- I've been here several times, dragged back against my will and seem to experience the same thing each time. French onion soup you say, can't be difficult for a 'French' restaurant to pull off, right? I've had it three times, each time its just aweful. I know, I know - "It's just soup, how could it be that bad?" you say. Well, it's excessively watered down and the cheese has that nice after-bite like it's been uncovered in the refrigerator for too long and suffering from frost bite. In fact, anything you order with cheese has the same after-taste: imitation, frost-bitten, exposed cheese flavor. Yum! To top it off, the food is way overpriced by leaps and bounds. Yup, needless to say I think this place is one of the worst in Broward. The fact that so many people have an average to good rating of this restaurant only goes on to reinforce the lack of truly French restaurants in the greater Fort Lauderdale area.

Great breakfast coffee is great and loads of yummy French baked goods to tempt carb junkies. Omlettes are exceptional and the decor and service are on par with the food quality. Easy to overlook whendriving by but stop in sometime. You won't be disappointed.

Great Food , but service is inconsistent. This mainstay of Oakland Park and Wilton Manors caters to an eclectic crowd. The food is fine and some dishes are extraordinary good including the best Almond Croissant this side of the Atlantic .The atmosphere is quaint and I wish they would invest in a proper canopy for the outdoor space as it is a real opportunity for more business. But here is the issue , the service is so lacking at certain times of the day. Rule #1, greet EVERY client who walks in the door, don't rush past them with blinders or ignore them they just get in the way if not seated and they will be happier with a seat , a menu and some water. #2 please follow up with simple requests like additional milk or more water. I've noticed that dinner time is usually well managed, but it is the brunch /breakfast that is so chaotic. I would suggest that they employ a greeter who helps get people seated and menus/cutlery/water set up. That is it . I will continue to go back with the hopes that the service issue gets resolved. I really like this place and hope it can succeed.

Maybe we should have tried the breakfast or lunch because dinner was not good ! There was three of us and two of us had bad stomach problems after eating here. My seafood crepe dish was ok but my companions had a very greasy and fatty rotisserie chicken that made them sick .There isn't anything good to say about about our waiter either. He neglected to tell us about the specials and looked like hadn't washed his uniform in days! Won't be back.

I been here a few times, and there desserts are unbelievable. Looks like you are in a french bakery in France. All the desserts are homemade, breads, quiches. They look like they should be in a magazine, and they taste even better. The prices are fairly cheap too. Usually around $3- $5 for a tart, you can eat in or pick up. I always order either the endive salad, with hige chucks of blue cheese, walnuts, and endive. The salad it really good I can't say I have seen this salad on any menu before. I also order a malte turkey sandwich with cheddar cheese, and plum tomatoes. Definately stop in the food it excellent, and even better are there desserts !

I've passed by Rendez Vous every day for the last two months and finally decided to stop in and give it a try. It is a very quaint, rustic restaurant that reminds me of a french country side bakery. From the display cases of pastries, wait staff in black, and exposed beam ceiling, it gives you a warm and cozy feeling. I ordered the quiche Lorraine and potatoes. The pastry shell was very flaky and loaded with butter, not to the point of being greasy, but that deep rich flavor that only butter can add. The eggs were very fluffy and was loaded with diced ham, bacon and cheese. A perfect start. The potatoes were cooked almost perfect, most of them had a crispy, caramelized outside and hot creamy interior with just the right amount of herbs. Even the coffee, although drip brewed, was robust, full flavored and NOT Folgers or Maxwell House. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast and will return to try their dinner menu. Rendez Vous is not just another corner diner.

I think this place was deceitfully bad. It has a homemade feel and a hidden gem look to it, but I was not a fan at all. A few months ago I met up with some family here that love the place. Since my family is nuts that should be the first sign. When I found the place it looked wonderful. Like a secret bistro that only a few elite would know about....then again I was meeting family there, making it the worst kept secret probably. I had a bowl of cream of mushroom soup and a quiche. The mushroom soup was OK, except I found a couple hard things in it. Don't know if it was mushroom teeth or cream bones, but it wasn't pleasant. I figured its nothing a crap load of pepper couldn't fix. The quiche was also sub par. It was tiny, the crust was baked to be inedible and the rest was bland. Pepper wasn't fixing this. They left me with the feeling of *sigh*. Nothing special. No reason to go back. Just not my cup of tea.

I have stopped going to this place. The food is good, not great. Service was mediocre, probably because we had the same server on both visits and she was noticeably bad. The dealbreaker however, was the fact that you cannot order off of the lunch menu and the breakfast menu at the same time at the same table, this was ridiculous.

I stopped going here over a year ago because my beloved almond croissants started to suck. They reduced the amount of gooey marzipan filling in them yet they are still pricey. I'm not paying the same for inconsistency, that just frustrated and disappointed me. After it happened like 5 times I had to tell my lady friend (who usually went to pick up the breakfast) they are no longer privilege to my business.

Stopped by the Rendez Vous Bakery for the first time this morn for breakfast. It's right up the street from my home of two months, so it seemed about time for me to make an appearance here. The decor is very quaint and Francais: rustic beams and furnishings, wrought iron finishings, boulangerie counter, lots of bottled vinos, baskets of patisseries, and the like; very French provencale. The hostess was a full-sized lady with a friendly, yet distant, smile and demeanor. As a "newbie," my impression was that she'd be a lot friendlier if I'd've been a "regular"; she was very personable with another person who was obviously a patron. (Naturally, this is just my perceived impression.) Anyway, the menu was a far cry from my favorite breakfast joint, Michael's Cafe, and the prices were a bit on the higher end for breakfast; nonetheless, it all gleaned from French stock. I'd never ate quiche before, so I last-minutely blurted out "quiche florentine" when the hostess/waitress loomed over me for my order. (Okay, I exaggerate: she didn't "loom" over me; however, she did make her presence quite pronounced.) So I ordered the quiche florentine (a spinach/swiss cheese quiche), along with a choice of sauteed potatoes. The order arrived back at the table in lickety-split time! I swear there's no way the cook could've made it fresh, as it was only five-minutes earlier that I placed the order! However it was done, it was done on Marvel-time! As I mentioned earlier, I've never tried quiche before, and this is simply because the thought of a "liquid chick pie" just makes me a bit queasy. (It's a childhood thing, I admit. Another reason why I will only eat eggs that are hard- or fully-cooked through.) Well, with a bit of trepidation, I dug-in and took my first bite.... Then I took a second.... Wow! Amazingly, this quiche florentine was really quite wonderful! The consistency was almost like eating ricotta -- the kind of ricotta in real Italian lasagna: very fluffy and smooth. The spinach was perfect. It did have that package-spinach-look to it; but, it was all very tasty being enveloped in the egg and cheese richness. The mini pie shell, too, was flaky and a perfect springboard for the mix. Even the sauteed potatoes -- I can't really say they were griddled or grilled potatoes since they didn't come with the requisite crunchiness -- were flavorful, and a perfect accompaniment to the quiche. Coffee was also rich and flavorful -- definitely NOT Folgers or Folgers-type grinds! (She told me the name, but I can't remember it right now.) Naturally, at the end of the meal, I had to take-out one of their croissants (heated) for good measure.... (Oh-so flaky and buttery without the usual greasiness that mars so many sub-par croissants. Perfect!) I'll definitely be returning soon. Probably for a dinner to try their rabbit stew.... :)

How do you review a place that can be quite good, but also quite bad? I've been here a number times, and it's all over the map. The food has generally been okay, sometimes very good, other times, well, bizarre. We had lunch there a while back, and my partner ordered a typical French sandwich - ham, brie and butter on a baguette. While not on the menu, they do have a butter, ham and cornichon sandwich on the menu. We've also had that same combination at other French bakeries in the area. After we ordered, we could overhear the waitress and chef laughing at someone wanting both brie and butter on the same sandwich. Not cool to make fun of your customer within earshot. I was there a few weeks ago with a co-worker for lunch and I had the quiche, which came with salad greens. It was a delicious lunch. My partner and I went for lunch again today. He ordered the French Dip, and I ordered the hot turkey and cheddar on a croissant with a side of fries. The French Dip was not a French Dip. By definition, French Dip comes AUS JUS, not gravy. Even the menu said it came "aus jus". My partner said that the gravy completely overpowered the taste of the meat...something that jus gently compliments. The gravy looked like the gloppy mess make from a powder. He said the meat was thickly sliced, not shaved as you would expect. Note to chef: change the menu to "hot roast beef sandwich with gravy". My turkey and chedder sandwich was quite delicious. However, the fries were amongst the worst I've had in recent memory. They were limp and very greasy...maybe old leftovers that were thrown back into the fryer for a bit? We'd go back and be aware of what we order.

We found this place purely by accident. My husband had the ham and cheese crepe and I had the spinach quiche for lunch. Both were delicious and the crepe could have fed two people. As mentioned before in other reviews, the service is somewhat lackadaisical.

I have been coming here for years. In the past year service went downhill. No 'Hello' upon entrance, one can stand for quite some time without any notice. When one gets seated, no menu given, need to ask for water multiple times. Order sometime comes right sometimes does not . 50/50 chance they get it right. Food is still very good overall, when one finally gets it right. However, poor service makes me say I won't come back and let my friends about my expierence . I used to love this place for years ... Hope things will improve so I come back and enjoy again...

I came here with my husband. It's a very nice frenchie looking place wiht beautifulvines on the outside. It looks nice & cozy from the outside. Being that we love crepes, onion soup & french food in general we decided to give it a try it's also near the house so we have to see what the neighborhood has to offer. We went in on a week day, pretty late almost closing time (or 1hr till) I say.Inside was very cozy & almost a romantic french feel to it. It was quite inside, barely anyone in there. The waitress was very nice. I honestly dont remember what we ordered, execpt the onion soup, OMG THE BEST onion soup ever!!!! We ordered some crepes as the main entree but I cant remember what type of crepes all I remember that it was nasty! it didnt look good, def not like th crepes I'm used to eating (i'm not french &im not sure what a "real" crepe is supposed to be like but i know I didnt like the one I got! It was good at first, like the first 3 bites then it was like "ok, i've had enough". my crepe I remember being a shrimp or seafood crepe served over a sauce that was really good, but after a few bites you've had enough... we also got a dessert crepe and it was also a dissapointment as it wasnt what we were expecting it to be. Service was ok, she didnt come around toooften & couldnt really explain the dishes to us... I will definetely go back for some more onion soup...$7 bowl onion soup!!!! yummy... :-)

Went here for Sunday breakfast with friends. The food was spectacular. I had an omelette with chicken, spinach, and cheddar; flavor bursting as I ate it. The potatoes were also cooked very well - crisp on the outside, well-seasoned, soft inside. I had a croissant, which was good but not amazing, and I was wishing for the fresh baguette that one of my friends was eating. The coffee was okay but one cup was a bit off-flavor. The decor is nothing special, and the service vacillated between very attentive and warm, and ignoring us despite passing by repeatedly.

One of the most delicious french onion soups I've ever had. Their sandwiches are super French and cheesy (and big), their salads filling and tasty. I don't think I've tried anything here that I haven't liked. If you go, you MUST order their french fries, they're homemade and ridiculously good. Also, don't leave without ordering the creme brulee. It is hands down, the best creme brulee I've ever tasted. Also, they are extremely friendly there and the service is great. When I'm in the mood for French food, this is my go-to place.

This restaurant was recommended to me by friends as a wonderful place for dinner. Husband and I went there to try it out. We recently moved to Ft. Lauderdale from Boston and have to say this was the best, move flavorful meal I've had since moving her 8 months ago. I ordered the beef bourguignon, which came with au gratin potatoes, baked tomato and a spinach side. The beef gourguignon was so tender and the sauce was mouthwatering. The potatoes were delicious and cooked to perfection as was the baked tomato. Truly fabulous. My husband had a ham and cheese crepe which tasted divine to me. Will become one of our new favorites!! We arrived around 7 p.m. and were seated promptly. Waitress was friendly with great service.

Ate lunch there yesterday. In 14 years I have lived here, was not ever privy to know this place was here. WOW! Delicious!! We both ended up with the French dip. Comes with chips on the side. Crunchy toasted bread with lots of freshed sliced beef, smothered in cheese. The gravy, used instead of Au jus was a great touch and completely unexpected. I will be back and work my way through the entire menu!! Exceptional service, fair pricing and GREAT food!!

I recently moved to the area and had seen the sign for the restaurant but decided not to go in because the outside seemed rather pedestrian. But today I couldn't decide what to do for lunch and took a risk...and I'm SO glad I did. The staff was delightful. They all spoke French (not that I do, well maybe a little) and were very friendly. I was getting food to go and they took the time to help with the menu even though they were busy. I placed my order and I knew it would take a bit so I ordered a cookie..damn it was good. I can't wait to go back and try out their breakfasts...they looked yummy as well. If you are debating about whether to go there or not, trust me, take the plunge!

My favorite place for breakfast in Fort Lauderdale... The Trio Benedict and the Eggs Forestier are the best!

Very good French food. Sometimes wait staff is a little forgetful with salad dressing or bread. Generally consistent prepared food. Very good breakfasts Lunch is tasty. And dinner is prepared well.

It's a little touch of France on Oakland Park. Even the staff and guests were speaking French....I started looking for my passport. We decided to try a Rendez-vous for a late lunch, around 2pm, although they do serve lunch until 5, with a dinner menu after 5pm. The menu featured many of the classic staples of French bistro repertoire. In addition to the menu there was a feature board highlighting the day's specials several of which I may have to come back and try ( beef bourguignon!). We both decided on a guilty pleasure - Ham Croque Monsieur. For those un familiar with this little gem, it's basically a grilled ham and swiss filled and topped with béchamel sauce. Well it was 2pm and they were out of ham, so we tried turkey...oops, they only had one....ok I'll try something else....oops, change of plan our lovely server (name unknown, she's new) negotiated for us both to have turkey. First things first, it's odd that they were "out" of something, but then it turns out they had it but just didn't want to make it fresh. Big strike. What ever the reason it comes across badly. Anyways - we had the turkey and it was quite good, maybe a little more nutmeg in the béchamel but it was tasty none the less (as a side note, this is a knife and fork sandwich). While we both had the same entree , we started with different soups. I had the tomato basil, while my companion had the French onion. The verdict is they were both outstanding. The onion soup was full- flavored with a heaping portion of melted cheese on top The Tomato soup was thick and rich, it almost verged on tomato sauce thick, but that is a welcome change from the thin watery soups I've come to expect in local restaurants. There was just enough sweetness and cream to balance the tomato acidity. A success on all counts. Before we left, we decided to check out the dessert case which was full of pastries, cakes and other goodies and according to the Frenchman behind the counter, everything is made there. Maybe next time will be soup and dessert...,maybe some beef stew...hmmm, too many choices.

Great coffee, friendly staff and awesome food. I've had the eggs with mushrooms, trio of eggs Benedict, French onion soup and chicken friand (puff pastry with chicken, mushroom and bechemel). Everything is so good. I wanna come back for dinner!

I've eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast, I usually get Eggs Forastiere. WOW, is this delicious. Poached eggs wallow in a rich creamy wild mushroom sauce. You drag the baguette in the sauce and pretend you're not consuming the day's caloric intake in one meal. Sigh and repeat. My husband and I both like the Smoked salmon platter too. It is a large portion and fresh tasting with lots of variety on the platter (capers, tomatoes, onions, lemon wedges). The coffee is good and strong too. I think lunch is my favorite. I'm a fan of Soup & Salad. Even though you can find this dynamic duo pretty much everywhere, at Rendez-vous Soup & Salad are some next level stuff. The French onion soup is divine. The herbs added really set it apart as authentic, bright, and clean tasting, and they use Gruyere. It is unlike some diner versions, which are murky and questionable. The soup comes out hotter than Hades, you need to wait like 15 minutes before you can actually eat it. I usually get the Garden salad or the Endive salad. All veggies are fresh and I'm pretty sure the dressings are house made, they're delicious. Portions are perfect size for salad, not skimpy. I've also enjoyed the savory chicken pie (Friande) and the amazing grilled vegetable sandwich. I'm not even a vegetarian and I can honestly say, I'd prefer the grilled vegetable sandwich over any other sandwich on the menu. The French Dip is a close second. Again, perfect portion size on the sandwiches, leaning towards large. At dinner, I prefer the Trout Almandine or the Mussels. Out of this world. I swear I had a special once of Steak Diane at Rendez-vous that was fab, but I'm not sure if that's what it was...Steak Diane is not French, but maybe I thought it was because there was steak and cognac and cream. Seems remotely French lol. Whatever it was, I remember it was amazing and the steak was cooked perfectly and mouthwatering. Because Rendez-vous has a French theme, the baguettes, croissants and pastries are stellar. As it should be. If you're gonna go French, you gotta bring it with the carbs. Parking is easy, it has its own lot. Tends to get pretty busy for weekend breakfast/brunch, but I've never waited more than 20 mins. The staff is friendly and efficient. There are a couple tables under an awning in the back, so you can sit outside too.

Everything here is fantastic, the waitresses are friendly and attentive, if you're in the area, definitely worth a try. They do not take the Discover card, but do accept Visa and Mastercard.

I've eaten here a few times and love the food. Wether it's the almond croissant or the French dip. It's fresh and delicious. The ambiance is warm and decorated with nice touches of French cottage design. The staff are friendly and it shows they love what they do. I suggest everyone come and enjoy some food and pair it with a nice glass of wine!!
